Only a month and a half after filing a wrongful death lawsuit, The Ammons Law Firm successfully negotiated the settlement of a case involving a tractor-trailer crash that killed a 26-year-old Texas man.
The crash occurred when a tractor-trailer ran a stop sign and slammed into the pickup truck the young man was driving. As a result of sustaining blunt force trauma to his head, neck, and torso, the man died at the scene, leaving his wife, two young children, and his parents behind.
In the lawsuit Mr. Ammons filed, it was alleged that the tractor-trailer driver was negligent in failing to yield the right of way at the stop sign and in operating the commercial vehicle in a reckless manner. The driver was on the job at the time of the collision, making the small Texas trucking company for whom he worked legally responsible for his negligence.
It was also alleged that the company was negligent in entrusting the tractor-trailer to this particular driver, who had a lengthy criminal history and was not even properly licensed to operate the vehicle at the time of the collision. It was also claimed in the lawsuit that the company did not adequately supervise or monitor its driver.
