Lawsuit Filed Against City of Grand Prairie and Entities Owning Lone Star Park after Pipe Gate End Penetrates through Man’s Vehicle

Rob Ammons has filed a lawsuit on behalf of a Texas man who was seriously injured while exiting Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. Following a show at the park, the man was traveling in the parking lot toward the exit when a vehicle cut in front of him. To avoid a collision, the man steered to the left and collided with a pipe gate that was pointing at oncoming traffic. The pointed end of the gate’s pipe penetrated into the driver’s compartment of the vehicle severing the man’s left leg. The leg was later amputated. After the accident, the owners and operators of the venue changed the gate’s configuration and installed channelizing devices to warn motorists and direct traffic away from the gate.

Defendants in the lawsuit include The City of Grand Prairie and various entities who own and operate Lone Star Park, which acts as a horse racing track and entertainment venue in Grand Prairie, Texas. According to the lawsuit filed by Ammons, the Defendants in the lawsuit maintained a dangerous condition on the premises. Ammons further alleges that the pipe gates at the Park were not illuminated or adequately visible to visitors of the Park after dark, nor did the pipe gates display warnings of potential danger to oncoming drivers.
