COMMENTARY ON TIRE DEFECT ACCIDENTS BY ROB AMMONS
It is heartbreaking to learn about another young person that has had their life derailed by a tire failure. Although many injuries cause permanent damage and impairment, I continue to be inspired by the courage I have seen in clients that overcome the injuries caused by tire-failure crashes.
When I started handling tire failure cases over 25 years ago, I thought that these problems would have been solved by now. I believe that the introduction of tire pressure monitoring systems and the incorporation of a nylon cap ply in tires are a significant step forward in reducing the number of accidents caused by tire failure. But the problem has still not been solved. I will continue to do what I can to make people aware of the risks associated with tire failure. I hope that within the next ten years crashes caused by tire failure are a thing of the past.
