A summer road-trip turned deadly when a family of six was struck by a speeding and distracted commercial vehicle operator. In the crash, a mother, a father, and their two children were killed, while two minor children survived. On behalf of the surviving children, The Ammons Law Firm has filed a lawsuit against a Texas trucking company, claiming its driver was not paying proper attention when he approached a controlled intersection at an excessive speed.
In the lawsuit, Attorney Rob Ammons claims that the driver of the 18-wheeler failed to exercise reasonable care, maintain a proper lookout, timely apply his brakes, and that he was speeding while distracted and/or fatigued. The lawsuit also cites the trucking company’s failure to properly hire and monitor its drivers as well as failing to adequately train them on safe operation of its fleet vehicles. The driver was on the job at the time of the collision, making the trucking company legally responsible for his negligence.
