Kevin Mason killed in truck accident on Interstate 43

OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wisconsin—On August 23, 2022, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Kevin Mason, 45, was killed after his pickup truck drifted across the center line on Interstate 43 at Highway 60.

As described in local police reports, Mason was driving a Ford F-450 utility truck when he crashed into a barrier separating lanes, also known as an impact attenuator, and flipped his pickup. Mason was the only person in the truck at the time of the accident.

No further details about the crash have been released.

An investigation into this accident will be needed to determine if other parties are responsible for this accident

It is heartbreaking to hear of another life lost on our highways, especially that of a young man who died so unexpectedly. It is safe to assume his loved ones will want answers as to why such a tragic accident occurred. In that sense, it might be convincing that the decedent, himself, was negligent and ultimately caused his truck to crash due to distracted driving or inattention. However, that may not be the case.

In fact, our firm has experience with representing families of those who passed away suddenly in car accidents unrelated to driver error. Instead of starting with the premise that a driver in a single-vehicle accident must be at fault for that crash, we offer open-minded legal strategies focused on investigating the real causes of the crash.

For example, an accident caused by what looks, at first, like driver negligence may be the result of a mechanical error or a defective product within the vehicle itself. Experienced attorneys are needed to parse out the details of investigations through means of legal discovery to ensure victims and their families get the answers they deserve to pursue justice after a crash.

Although we do not know whether Mason’s crash was the result of driver error or something unrelated to the driver, we should not assume causation of a crash before a thorough investigation is completed. Should any wrongdoing or defect be discovered here, our firm can assist those injured here and hold the appropriate parties responsible for their actions.

In the meantime, our thoughts and prayers are with those grieving the loss of Kevin Mason.
