Multi-vehicle accident reported on Eastex Freeway in Humble

Humble, Texas—Six people were taken to area hospitals after they were involved in an accident involving at least five vehicles, including one tractor-trailer. The accident occurred at around 9:00 in the morning on August 14th in the Southbound lanes of the Eastex Freeway.

Details regarding the specifics of the accident and what led up to the pile-up were not immediately available.

According to authorities, at least six people suffered injuries requiring transportation to area hospitals, including one pregnant woman.

The causes of this accident must be determined to allow the injured to recover

When a tractor-trailer is involved in an accident, the actions of the driver immediately preceding the collision must be thoroughly investigated. Before formulating a legal strategy, we must understand the cause of the accident and specifically the tractor-trailer’s involvement.

If the driver of the tractor-trailer could have prevented the accident through more appropriate careful driving or better maintenance of the vehicle, the fault could lie with the driver or the driver’s employer. Making this determination will dictate the proper legal approach.

If the driver was distracted, speeding, or had continued to drive beyond the safe time limits, both the driver and/or the company for which the driver works could be held liable. If the company knew or should have known that the driver exhibited poor decision-making, the company could be held liable for its hiring practices. Alternatively, if the driver’s employer placed undue pressure on the driver that caused them to continue driving beyond reasonable limits, the employer could similarly be held liable.

If the tractor-trailer was involved in the cause of the accident, the condition of the vehicle must be investigated. Drivers and trucking companies are obligated to maintain their vehicles and repair any damage right away. If it is found that the tractor-trailer had a deficiency, those responsible for inspection, repair, and maintenance could be held liable for their negligence.

Ultimately, a thorough investigation must be completed to better understand the nature and cause of the accident in this case. If the truck or the truck driver’s actions caused the accident or exacerbated the damage, the trucker or the employer of the trucker must take responsibility for their actions.
