ODESSA, Texas – On November 8, 2022, at approximately 8:00 a.m., three people were injured in a crash with a semi-truck at the intersection of State Highway 302 and FM 196.
According to police reports, a northbound semi-truck failed to yield to traffic with the right of way and struck a Honda Pilot traveling eastbound. All three individuals in the Honda were transported to Medical Center Hospital immediately after the accident for emergency treatment.
An active investigation into the crash is ongoing. No additional information is currently available.
Innocent victims have a right to demand answers and compensation from wrongdoers.
This accident appears to be a clear act of negligence on the part of the semi-truck driver. The family in the Honda Pilot reportedly followed all laws and did nothing to bring about this terrible crash. Instead, the trucker failed to obey basic traffic laws, causing an innocent family serious injury. The occupants of the Honda were wronged and should not have to shoulder the costs of such negligence.
Semi-truck drivers must remain vigilant while driving and take every measure possible to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road. Because big rigs are so heavy, even a minor collision with a semi-truck can have devastating consequences for the drivers and passengers involved. Therefore, truck drivers should refrain from distractions while driving and be knowledgeable of safety standards and protocols throughout the industry.
To that end, commercial trucking companies must do their part to hire qualified drivers and to provide their drivers with regular safety training. In fact, trucking companies can be, and often are, held liable for the negligent actions of their employees. However, unlike individual drivers, commercial trucking companies typically carry insurance to cover the costs of severe injuries and the resulting loss of quality of life.
Here, the trucker and his company must be held responsible and do the right thing. The cost of the family’s medical treatment must be covered, and the victims should be compensated for their pain and suffering. Even with relatively straightforward negligence cases, every responsible party must be correctly identified to ensure families receive the most compensation available under the law.
Experienced personal injury lawyers can help families obtain the answers and money they need to move forward after such a horrific accident. By sifting through company records, training protocols, and more, attorneys can uncover information critical to proving the fault of an individual or entity that might otherwise attempt to escape liability for the accident. Thus, the victims of this crash would likely benefit from discussing their options with a personal injury lawyer.
