SAN ANTONIO, Texas – A driver and passenger in a semi-truck were rushed to University Hospital on November 24, 2022, after their big rig went over a bridge and landed upside down. The accident occurred on an overpass near I-10 and Culebra Road in San Antonio, Texas.
The driver and passenger survived the accident, but the semi-truck suffered incredible damage. Eyewitnesses recount hearing a loud noise and seeing the semi-truck overturned below the roadway. Authorities believe slick roads may have contributed to the incident but have not released any definitive statement regarding the cause of the crash. The overpass was closed for several hours as emergency crews removed debris.
While the driver has since been discharged from the hospital, the passenger remains in stable, yet critical, condition.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing. No additional details about the wreck are publicly available.
Further investigation into the cause of the crash may help the injured victims needed compensation for their harms
While slick roads may have contributed to this wreck, other factors may have increased the risk of injury for the two individuals in the semi-truck on Thanksgiving day. For example, the roadway may not have been designed to handle excess water properly, or the semi-truck may have malfunctioned unexpectedly. Although these are merely theories, authorities should not rule out the possibility of wrongdoing associated with this wreck.
Attorneys at our firm understand the importance of thoroughly investigating every trucking accident. Since the police are generally not trained to process anything but the crash scene, investigating authorities often do not recognize the leading causes of injury in semi-truck crashes. Instead, victims and their families can ensure they get the complete picture of what happened in the moments leading up to the impact if they initiate an independent investigation of the accident.
Our firm offers free independent investigations for crashes involving large trucks due to the complexities of these accidents. With an independent investigation, attorneys can provide victims and families with a comprehensive overview of all factors contributing to their injuries, including any wrongdoing by vehicle manufacturers, repair shops, trucking companies, or engineers tasked with designing roads and overpasses.
