Here it is especially important to consider the crashworthiness of the van. The reports provided allege the van caught fire following the impact with the tractor-trailer. All motorists understand that post-collision fires are highly dangerous and often lead to severe injuries. When we see post-collision fires, we investigate the vehicle’s fuel system to ensure the manufacturer designed the vehicle in a way that minimizes the risk of fire. Frequently, especially in older cars, we find this safety consideration went undetected by the manufacturer. This must be accounted for to ensure innocent victims receive the justice they deserve.
