Commentary on Tire Blowout Accidents
I am confident the families involved are seeking answers in the wake of this tragic accident, given the sparse details currently available. While details are limited, we know the answers we seek revolve around the dump truck’s tire. I have spent my career representing injured victims from accidents caused by tire manufacturers’ negligence. In short, I help victims when a tire blows due to factors outside the driver’s control. Many people don’t realize how often this occurs. Poorly designed tires fail every day despite the tire’s owner taking every precaution. I have personally represented clients in accidents just like this one all across the nation.
While tire defect is more common than people realize, it is difficult to determine without examining the tires involved. Before a full investigation, I cannot determine whether a tire defect caused this accident. However, I have been seeing an increasing number of tire failures on big-rig vehicles and am concerned an undetected design flaw is causing these accidents. It is vitally important that all remaining shreds of this tire are maintained to ensure trained professionals can determine the exact cause of this accident.
Alternatively, if this accident resulted from poor tire maintenance, the driver’s employer will need to account for their actions. An innocent man was injured, and his family deserves answers.
