Two men suffered severe injuries in a rollover crash on I-135 south of Salina

SALINE COUNTY, Kansas—Two men from Texas were seriously injured in a rollover crash on I-135 around 6:30 p.m. on October 31, 2022.

According to authorities, a man from Pearland, Texas, was traveling northbound on I-135 in a Toyota 4Runner and drifted off the right side of the road. The man overcorrected and lost control of the car before sliding into a ditch. The vehicle started to roll and, eventually, stopped in an upright position.

Both the driver of the Toyota and the passenger, 22 years old, was transported to a local hospital for treating severe injuries.

An investigation is ongoing into this crash. No other information is publicly available at this time.

A more thorough investigation may be needed to determine the vehicle’s crashworthiness.

Unfortunately, approximately 280,000 rollover accidents occur each year on America’s roadways. While this statistic highlights the importance of driving safely, it demonstrates that rollover crashes are foreseeable. That being said, car manufacturers have every reason to expect that at least a percentage of their vehicles will be involved in rollovers each year. However, not all manufacturers design and build cars in a way that is proven to minimize the risk of serious injury to passengers in a rollover.

Indeed, attorneys at The Ammons Law Firm have handled hundreds of rollover cases and repeatedly found information suggesting manufacturers cut safety corners. While this is unacceptable, authorities responding initially to the crash site typically do not consider manufacturing procedures as a possible cause of the victim’s injuries. Therefore, crash victims and their families are encouraged to seek legal counsel to begin an independent investigation to get more answers about whether the wreck could have been prevented or whether injuries could have been lessened.

Should an additional investigation reveal that this 4Runner was not designed to withstand a rollover, the two victims may be able to bring a claim against the car’s manufacturer to recuperate some or all of their medical expenses. In the case of serious injuries, victims may also receive compensation for their loss of quality of life. While the legal system may appear complicated, experienced attorneys can help streamline the process and get victims the compensation they deserve.
