Two people were killed in a fiery semi-truck crash on I-10 in Gadsden County

GADSDEN COUNTY, Florida—A semi-truck traveling on I-10 drove into the median at approximately 11:30 p.m. on October 14, 2022, overturned, and immediately caught fire near mile marker 188 in Gadsden County, Florida. The driver, 37, and passenger, 28, were pronounced dead at the crash scene.

The accident resulted in the eastbound lane of I-10 being closed for nearly a day.

An active investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing. No further information is currently available.

More details are needed to determine the cause of the crash and prevent future accidents.

Accidents involving semi-trucks often result in fatalities due to the size and weight of the truck. Thus, semi-truck rollovers can be especially dangerous to truck drivers and passengers. Although most of the details of this crash are still unclear, the families of the deceased driver and the passenger may wish to find out what caused this terrible accident.

To do so, further investigation will be necessary to determine whether the semi-truck suffered from a tire blowout, steering failure, or some other form of mechanical defect. Should an investigation reveal deficiencies within the semi-truck that the manufacturer might have addressed before the sale, the decedents’ families might be entitled to compensation from one or more responsible parties.

Semi-truck manufacturers must prioritize safety in the design and manufacturing of their trucks. Unfortunately, our firm is seeing a lot of accidents involving equipment failures and manufacturing defects. For instance, our attorneys have handled claims alleging steering axle failures in numerous semi-truck rollovers. Tire blowouts also contribute to the number of semi-truck accidents on our roadways.

Manufacturers can be held responsible for defects like these, mainly if the semi-truck manufacturer did not perform adequate quality control checks. If that is the case here, our firm can help the families of the two victims get the compensation they deserve. Indeed, no family should be financially burdened after losing a loved one due to a defective product. We hope the two families can continue to get more answers about the cause of this crash and that future semi-truck accidents can be prevented with manufacturers prioritizing safety.
