Jonathan Leiner was killed in an early morning car crash on I-95

HOWARD COUNTY, Maryland- Jonathan David Leiner, 63, has passed away from injuries sustained in a deadly crash between two tractor-trailers on I-95 near Gorman Road at around 4:40 a.m.

According to investigators, Leiner was in a truck heading northbound when his truck collided with a second tractor-trailer parked on the side of the roadway.

Authorities did not specify why the truck was parked on the roadway or if the driver of the other truck was injured.

The crash remains under investigation. No further information was immediately available.

The driver of the parked truck may be responsible for Mr. Leiner’s death

Our thoughts are with the Leiner family as they navigate the loss of their loved one in this preventable crash.

We will want to investigate this crash to make sure the family has an opportunity to recover for the loss of their loved one. If the truck was not parked in a designated parking area, or if the truck was not properly illuminated to warn other motorists of its presence, the driver of the parked truck, and the employer, may be responsible here and required to compensate the Leiner family for Mr. Leiner’s death.

Trucks are often parked on the side of the road because of mechanical failures. While some failures are unpreventable, most can be prevented with routine maintenance and repair. Unfortunately, employers often avoid doing routine maintenance and repair and wait until their trucks break down before performing maintenance. This is unacceptable because it creates a serious risk of harm to fellow motorists. We handle truck accident cases across the nation and cannot tell you how many accidents we have handled just like this one. A truck parked on the side of the road is a serious risk to all other motorists. If the presence of the truck was not absolutely essential, the driver and the employer need to be held accountable and compensate this family accordingly. This is the only way to prevent accidents like this from happening again.

Our firm has handled many cases just like this across the country and knows exactly what needs to be done to make sure this family gets the answers they need to move forward. If there was wrongdoing here, we will find it and hold the party responsible. With our free case investigation, those impacted here can make sure they get the answers they deserve regardless of their current financial situation.
