A 22-year-old woman was killed, and a child was injured after a tire blowout caused her vehicle to leave the roadway and roll over.
According to authorities, Alexus Reann Dominguez and her two-year-old male passenger were traveling south on State Highway 349 in a 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer when the vehicle’s right rear tire blew out, causing Dominguez to lose control of the vehicle and cross both lanes of traffic before entering a pasture east of the highway and rolling over.
Dominguez was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover sequence, suffering fatal injuries. The child passenger also suffered injuries in the crash and was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital in stable condition.
No further information regarding the cause of the blowout was immediately available.
The surviving family will need the cause of the blowout determined and wrongdoers held accountable
This is a horrific example of what happens when a tire fails at highway speeds. A woman has lost her life, and a small child has suffered injuries. The cause of the tire blowout must be determined to ensure that all wrongdoing on the part of a manufacturer or service company is properly accounted for. If this tire failed because of a defect in the tire, the surviving family may wish to bring a claim against the responsible companies to ensure other similarly situated tires are removed from our roadways and to recover any compensation they are entitled under the law for their loss.
As tire defect attorneys, our job is to hold tire manufacturers and tire service companies responsible for accidents and injuries caused by defective or negligently repaired tires. To determine if this accident was caused by a defect or improper repair job, a detailed investigation of the accident and tire will need to be conducted to determine the exact cause of the blowout. A tire that has latent defects at the time it leaves the manufacturer is unsafe for use. Unfortunately, many of these defects are not visible to the naked eye and are only determined after the tire fails and causes a tragic accident. In these situations, the tire manufacturer must account in a court of law. If this tire was defective and caused this accident and resulting injuries, the manufacturer may be held responsible for the death of an innocent woman and the injuries suffered by the young child.
This is a terrible crash that will leave many mourning the loss of a young woman. I offer my deepest condolences to those affected by this accident and pray the young child makes a full and speedy recovery.
