Construction Worker Critically Injured in Trench Collapse in San Mateo, California

San Mateo, Calif. – A construction worker sustained critical injuries following a trench collapse. The incident happened Thursday morning on the 300 block of West 41st Avenue in San Mateo.

According to reports, a man in his 30s was partially buried under at least 10 feet of dirt while working on the property’s sewer lines. The construction team was performing sewer line work when the trench gave way.

Rescue crews spent nearly an hour extracting the man from the collapsed trench, employing special equipment to ensure the trench’s stability and the rescuers’ safety.

The man was in critical condition when removed from the trench.

When people work in high-risk industries like construction, it’s common to think that serious injuries and fatalities are just part of the job. However, this belief is incorrect.
