Kendall Cartwright Dies and One Other Critically Injured in an Accident with an Intoxicated Dump Truck Driver in Bellevue, Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville, Tenn. – A woman was killed, and another person was seriously injured in an accident with a dump truck. The incident happened Sunday evening at the intersection of Charlotte Pike and Old Hickory Boulevard.

According to reports, the driver of a Freightliner dump truck ran through a flashing red light and collided with a Ford Focus traveling east on Charlotte Pike, striking the driver’s side of the car.

The Ford Focus driver, 38-year-old Kendall Cartwright, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Ford Focus sustained critical injuries and was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment.

Police reported that the dump truck driver showed signs of alcohol consumption, including the smell of alcohol on his breath, and officers found an open beer bottle on the floorboard of his vehicle. He was taken to VUMC with minor injuries, where a blood sample was obtained under a search warrant.

After receiving treatment, the driver was arrested and booked into the County jail. He faces charges of vehicular homicide by intoxication and vehicular assault, with a bond set at $40,000.

The Truck Driver Must be Held Accountable

This truck driver’s poor choices have had devastating consequences that will affect many lives. The family of the deceased and the injured individual deserve justice and compensation for all the harm caused by the trucker’s actions.
