Saundra Dodd, Two Others Die, and Several People Seriously Injured in a Multi-Vehicle Accident Involving a Semi-truck on Interstate 24 in Livingston County, Kentucky

Grand Rivers, Ky.  – Three individuals lost their lives in a multi-vehicle crash. The incident happened Monday afternoon on Interstate 24 in Livingston County.

According to preliminary reports, traffic had slowed due to construction at the Tennessee River Bridge when a westbound 2022 Kenworth truck failed to decelerate, causing a collision with multiple vehicles. This initial crash triggered secondary collisions involving five other vehicles.

One of the vehicles caught fire, and 68-year-old Saundra Dodd and two others, whose identities have not been released, were found. All three occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.

Two individuals from other vehicles were airlifted to out-of-state hospitals, while several others were transported to local hospitals.

The Kenworth truck driver was uninjured.

Thoughts on semi-truck collisions

The news release indicates that fatalities and injuries occurred without any fault of the victims. If this is accurate, the families of the deceased and those seriously injured deserve answers from the wrongdoer and justice for the suffering they must endure.

Traffic laws exist to ensure the safety of all motorists. Whether the truck driver failed to stop due to distraction, speeding, or mechanical issues, the result was the same — lives were lost, and others were seriously harmed. When truck drivers neglect basic safety rules and cause such tragic outcomes, they must be held accountable.

Losing a loved one inflicts significant emotional and physical suffering, not to mention unexpected financial burdens. When these hardships result from someone else’s negligence, those affected should have the right to hold the responsible party accountable for their losses.

The same holds for those who sustained serious injuries. No one should have to endure pain and suffering, loss of wages, or mounting medical debt because someone else neglected to follow safety protocols.

Many people will be deeply affected by this horrible accident that should have never happened. May they be granted the strength to navigate their long road ahead.
