Chrysler Recalls Jeep Wrangler and Grand Cherokee Over Fire Risk


Due to a potential fire risk, Chrysler has announced a recall of more than 154,000 plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). The recall affects Jeep Wrangler PHEVs from 2020 to 2024 and Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEVs from 2022 to 2024.

Owners are urged to park the affected vehicles outside and away from structures and other vehicles until repairs are completed. Additionally, Chrysler advises against charging these vehicles, as the fire risk increases with a fully charged battery and is reduced when the battery is depleted.

The recall involves 118,230 Jeep Wrangler PHEVs and 35,802 Jeep Grand Cherokee PHEVs. The issue stems from a possible internal failure in the high-voltage battery, and two injuries have been reported to date.

To address the defect, Chrysler dealers will update the battery pack control module software, inspect the high-voltage battery, and replace it if necessary.

The NHTSA recall numbers are 24V-720 and 24E-080.
