FDA Elevates Costco Egg Recall to Highest Risk Level Over Salmonella Risks

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has raised the recall of over 10,000 cartons of Kirkland Signature Organic Pasture Raised Eggs sold at Costco to its most critical alert level. The decision arises from concerns that salmonella contamination could lead to serious health complications or even death.

Costco first announced the recall in late November. The recall affected nearly 260,000 eggs sold at 25 stores nationwide. The impacted eggs came from Handsome Brook Farms in New York and were distributed throughout southern states, including Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

The FDA warns that severe salmonella infections can damage critical organs like the brain, heart, and spinal cord. Consumers who purchased the potentially contaminated products were advised not to consume the eggs.
