Khurram Shahzad Killed in a Mechanical Failure Truck Accident in Nanuet, New York

Nanuet, NY —  A truck driver from Albany lost his life in an accident involving his vehicle while attempting to address a mechanical issue in Nanuet.

Clarkstown Police reported that Khurram Shahzad, 44, was driving a 1994 Grumman food truck westbound on Prospect Street when it stalled near S. Lexow Avenue. Shahzad exited the truck and enlisted the help of a friend, who was following in another vehicle, to maneuver the stalled truck onto a side street.

The friend entered the food truck and shifted it into neutral while Shahzad stood behind the vehicle to guide its movement. However, the truck’s brakes failed, causing it to roll backward and strike Shahzad.

Shahzad was transported to Montefiore Nyack Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
