Prinx Chengshan Tire North America Recalls Over 541,000 Winter Tires Due to Insufficient Snow Traction


Detroit, MI—Prinx Chengshan Tire North America is recalling more than 541,000 winter tires sold in the United States due to inadequate snow traction. The tires fail to meet North American safety standards. The recall affects over 100 sizes of Fortune Tormenta and Prinx Hicountry tires, all of which feature the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol on their sidewalls.

While these tires passed European traction tests, the company has determined they may not provide the necessary snow traction to meet North American requirements. This deficiency can potentially increase the risk of accidents in snowy conditions, prompting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) to issue a warning.
