Donald Eng Dies in Accident Involving Meat Truck on Interstate 680 in Fremont, California

Fremont, CA — One person lost their life when a meat truck crashed into their SUV. The incident happened in the morning on Interstate 680 in Fremont.

According to reports, a big rig transporting a load of meat rear-ended a Toyota Venza and careened into three other vehicles before descending an embankment on the right shoulder.

The Toyota Venza driver, Donald Eng, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other individuals sustained minor injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

No further details have been released.

Thoughts on commercial trucks and rear-end collisions

Given their size and weight, meat trucks require the utmost caution from their drivers to ensure the safety of others on the road. So, what led to this preventable tragedy? Was the truck following the SUV too closely?

Whether the truck driver failed to stop due to distraction, speeding, or a mechanical issue such as brake or tire failure, the result is the same: an innocent person lost their life. The family left behind deserves answers, justice, and compensation for their loss.

Losing a loved one brings immense emotional and physical pain, often accompanied by financial strain. When someone else’s negligence causes these hardships, those affected have the right to seek compensation and justice.
