Stephanie Hester Seriously Injured in a Jeep Rollover Accident in Kirbyville, Jasper County, Texas


Jasper County, TX – A Kirbyville woman was seriously injured on Thursday evening in a rollover accident. The crash happened at 1005 West Jullian Morgan, just before the road transitions into FM 1013 West in Kirbyville.

According to reports, Stephanie Hester was driving her Jeep Wrangler eastbound when it veered off the road, tipping over.

Responders arrived to find the Jeep on its driver’s side with Hester trapped inside. It took over an hour to remove the dash and floorboard that had her pinned.

Hester sustained severe injuries to her legs and other limbs and was transported by ambulance to Kirbyville Airport, from where she was airlifted to a hospital in Beaumont.

No additional details have been provided.

Thoughts on rollover accidents

In single-vehicle accidents, it’s common to assume that all injuries are solely due to the driver’s actions and the crash itself. However, in rollovers, this isn’t always true. Often, design flaws in the vehicle cause injuries that shouldn’t have been suffered.

Based on the photos of this crash, it appears the Jeep’s roof and physical structure held up well, which leads to questions about why the dash and floorboard caused such severe injuries to the lower body. Having seen hundreds of rollover crashes, this seems somewhat odd. It may be that the injuries suffered were greater than what one would expect.

If an investigation shows that the Jeep, in fact, caused injuries that should not have been suffered, the manufacturer may need to be held responsible for the injuries suffered in this crash.
