Two People Injured in an Accident with a Dump Truck in Orange County, Florida


Orange County, Fla. – Two people were hurt in a multi-vehicle collision involving a dump truck. The incident happened Wednesday afternoon on E Colonial Drive at St. Nicholas Avenue.

According to reports, a dump truck traveling westbound rear-ended a Honda Accord. The impact caused the Honda Accord to overturn while the dump truck continued forward. The dump truck collided with a BMW X5 and a Dodge Durango parked on the roadside. The BMW spun out and flipped over.

Both the drivers of the Honda and the BMW were transported to local hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

Thoughts on truck collisions

Most rear-end collisions are preventable, raising the question: What happened here? Why couldn’t the driver stop in time? Was the driver properly trained? Were they distracted, perhaps texting or under the influence? Given their size and weight, dump trucks demand the highest level of caution from their drivers to protect the safety of others on the road.
