Odessa, Texas – A woman was hospitalized after having a rollover accident. The incident happened Thursday morning at the South Westcliff and Interstate 20 Service Road intersection.

Thoughts on rollover crashes

It’s a common misconception that all injuries in single-vehicle accidents are solely the driver’s fault. In SUV rollover accidents, this isn’t always true. Many injuries occur because the vehicle is not built to withstand the impact of a rollover. Given the frequency of these accidents, this is unacceptable. Manufacturers are legally required to design vehicles that protect occupants and prevent additional harm.

SUV manufacturers know that rollover accidents are common, so there is no justification for designing vehicles with weak structures or defective safety features. Yet, some manufacturers continue producing vehicles with flaws like seatbelts that don’t restrain properly, airbags that fail to deploy, and roofs that collapse on impact. When these safety features fail, the responsibility lies with the manufacturer, and they should be held accountable when these defects cause injuries.

Determining if an SUV is defective involves a thorough examination by trained professionals. This complex process requires a team with extensive knowledge and experience in defect cases. If an investigation reveals that defects played a role in the injuries suffered, those responsible should be held accountable.
