Yesenic Tores Miranda Injured in a Two Semi-truck Accident on Interstate 29 in Andrew County, Missouri

Andrew County, Missouri – One person was injured in an accident involving two semi-trucks. The incident happened Wednesday afternoon on northbound Interstate 29.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 2009 Peterbilt truck was following too closely and collided with the towed unit of a 2022 Peterbilt truck.

Yesenic Tores Miranda,  a passenger in the 2022 Peterbilt, sustained moderate injuries. She was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Mosaic Life Care in St. Joseph.

The accident occurred as the 2022 Peterbilt was slowing down in traffic.

Truck drivers must provide fellow truckers enough space to operate safely

Basic traffic rules, like keeping a safe distance from the vehicle ahead, keep everyone safe on the roadways. When truck drivers ignore these rules, and someone gets hurt, they must be held accountable.

The news release states that the second truck was following the first truck too closely. This is dangerous behavior. To prevent rear-end collisions, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) advises trucks to keep a minimum of at least 4 seconds between them and the vehicle in front.
