Aaron Hunt Killed in a Motorcycle Semi-truck Accident on U.S. Route 50 in Olney, Illinois

Olney, Ill. — A man was killed when a Semi-truck collided with the motorcycle he was traveling on. The incident happened around 3:42 a.m. on Tuesday on U.S. Route 50 at the entrance to the Walmart Distribution Center.

According to reports, 25-year-old Aaron Hunt was traveling east when a westbound semi-truck turned left onto the distribution center entrance road, directly into the path of Hunt’s motorcycle.

Aaron Hunt was pronounced dead at the scene.

The semi-truck driver was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic, failing to yield while turning left, and failing to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

More must be done to protect innocent motorcyclists from serious injury and death

Failing to yield to oncoming traffic, failing to yield when turning left, and not slowing down to avoid an accident are all factors that can lead to a catastrophic collision, as seen in this incident. Truck drivers who ignore basic traffic laws should not be on the road. When truck operators neglect safety and cause tragic accidents that result in loss of life, they must answer to the surviving family.
