Justin McClain Seriously Injured and Another Driver Killed in a Semi-truck Head-on Accident on US-63 in Howell County, Missouri

Howell County, MO —  A head-on collision between two semi-trucks claimed the life of one driver and left another with serious injuries. The incident happened Wednesday afternoon on US-63 in Howell County.

According to reports, a southbound 2004 Kenworth crashed with a northbound 2006 Peterbilt operated by Justin McClain. The Kenworth reportedly veered into the path of the Peterbilt, resulting in a head-on collision that totaled both vehicles.

Emergency personnel airlifted McClain to the hospital with serious injuries.

The Kenworth truck driver died on the scene.

No additional details have been provided.

Thoughts on semi-truck collisions

According to the news release, the collision occurred when a southbound semi-truck veered into the northbound lane and collided with another vehicle. Why did this happen? Was the truck driver distracted, speeding, or fatigued? Could mechanical issues, such as brake or steering malfunctions or sudden tire failure, have contributed? While answers to these questions will emerge over time, what remains clear is that one driver was seriously injured at no fault of his own.

The emotional and financial burden on head-on collision survivors and their families is overwhelming, often requiring medical care and rehabilitation and resulting in loss of income. An innocent man should not suffer these losses alone. He deserves justice and the compensation he needs to move forward.
