Two People Seriously Injured in a Semi-truck Accident at the Intersection of Highway 60 and Main Avenue in Republic, Missouri

Republic, Mo. –  Two people sustained serious injuries following a collision involving a semi-truck. The incident happened Saturday morning around 10 a.m. at the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 and Main Avenue.

According to reports, a semi-truck traveling east on U.S. 60 failed to stop at a red light, crossing the intersection and striking the driver’s side of a 1965 Volkswagen.

Emergency personnel transported the 39-year-old male driver and a 40-year-old female passenger of the Volkswagen to a hospital with serious injuries.

No further details have been released.

People who are injured in truck accidents should not have to pay for medical expenses and should be compensated for their lost wages and other losses

Commercial truck drivers must adhere to basic traffic safety rules. The stakes are simply too high when they don’t. In this incident, a truck driver ran a red light, resulting in serious injuries to two people. This is unacceptable. Incidents like this are why the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) holds large trucks to higher operating standards.

Most roadway accidents are avoidable. Truck accidents often result from driver errors like distraction, speeding, or impairment. Mechanical issues, such as brake failure, can also be a factor. Regardless of the cause of this incident, two people were injured through no fault of their own. They deserve answers.

Trucking companies often try to dodge liability when accidents like this happen, but they are responsible for hiring and training drivers with safety in mind. They must also inspect and maintain their trucks to prevent malfunctions that can harm others. When they fail in these duties, they should be held accountable.

Injured parties face a long journey of emotional, physical, and financial challenges. When they must endure this because of someone else’s negligent actions, they deserve compensation and justice.

May the injured fully recover and find the support they need to receive answers and justice.
