Worker Killed After Falling into Machine at Recycling Plant in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Oklahoma City, OK — A worker died in an industrial accident on Friday at an Oklahoma City recycling plant near Reno and Ann Arbor avenues.

According to reports, the worker fell into a machine at the plant, and emergency crews pulled him out; however, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

No further details have been released.

Thoughts on workplace fatalities

A worker dies about every 96 minutes due to a work-related injury (U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2022). Because of their frequency, work-related fatalities are often viewed as inevitable. Despite how often they happen, dying while working should never become the norm. No one should leave their home and family to make a living and never return to their loved ones because they suffered a fatal injury at work.

Employers must prioritize worker safety by recognizing and minimizing known risks to ensure everyone comes home safely every day. When avoidable accidents occur, those at fault must be held responsible for their negligence.

A detailed investigation is important to uncover the cause of this accident and to assess whether it could have been prevented. If any negligence or wrongdoing took place, the company will have a lot of answering to do.

May the surviving family find the answers they need.
