Corey Krohn Dies and Another Person is Injured in a Rollover Accident on Highway 63 in Oronoco Township, Minnesota

Oronoco, Minn.–  A man died, and another individual was injured in a rollover crash Sunday afternoon. The incident happened on Highway 63 in Oronoco Township, Olmsted County.

According to reports,  a Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on Highway 63 when the vehicle rolled off the road.

The driver, Corey Krohn, died. The second passenger received non-life-threatening injuries.

The two occupants were wearing seatbelts.

No further details have been released.

Thoughts on rollover accidents

When we hear of a single-vehicle rollover crash, most assume the driver is entirely at fault for the harm suffered. However, if we think about it, shouldn’t the vehicle we travel in protect us from danger?  Rollover accidents happen all the time and are extremely dangerous. Shouldn’t car manufacturers do everything they can to prevent serious injury or death in an accident they know will occur?

Unfortunately, some car manufacturers have failed their customers and put them in serious danger during a rollover accident. In fact, some truck models have a history of being unable to withstand a rollover crash, causing additional injuries and even death to their occupants.

Common defects include seatbelts that fail to restrain, airbags that do not deploy, and weak roofs that collapse and crush on impact. The failure of any one of these safety features greatly increases the likelihood of serious injury or death in an accident.

If an inspection of the Dodge Ram determines that one of the defects caused the fatal injuries here, the surviving family deserves accountability from the manufacturer.

Manufacturers should not be allowed to produce a defective vehicle and then escape liability when a trusting customer is seriously injury or killed.
