Jeffrey Krout Seriously Hurt in Rollover Accident Caused by Tire Blowout on Highway 2 in Ward County, North Dakota

Ward County, N.D. – Jeffrey Krout sustained serious injuries following a tire blowout that led to a rollover crash on Highway 2 16 miles west of Minot.

According to reports, Krout was driving westbound, hauling asphalt, when the truck’s left front steer tire blew out. This caused the vehicle to veer into the median, cross the eastbound lanes, and overturn in the ditch.

Emergency personnel transported the driver with serious injuries.

No further details have been provided.

A defective tire may have caused this crash

When a tire is not produced safely, it may contain defects that cause the tire to fail in an uncontrollable manner. This type of tire failure has nothing to do with the driver. The tire is simply a bad tire.

When a tire fails because it is defective, the tire manufacturer should be held responsible for any injuries suffered in the accident. This means that the manufacturer should compensate the injured for things like lost wages, pain and suffering, and medical expenses.

It is important to make tire manufacturers pay for the injuries they cause to innocent people.  Not only does it ensure the injured receive the financial support they need to pay bills and adapt to their new lives, but it also forces the manufacturer to produce better tires so other people are not injured.

Defective commercial tires are a growing problem, with more and more steel axle tires failing across the country. We have handled these cases in South Carolina, Florida, California, Utah, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico and Nevada, among others. The accident scenario in these cases is the same. What appears to be a good steer axle tire is actually defective and causes an innocent trucker to crash, resulting in death and serious injuries.

The manufacturers do not want to admit they are at fault for these crashes because doing so would require them to recall their defective tires or pay out large settlements and judgments to those they have wronged. To escape liability, they blame the truckers for not controlling the truck after the blowout. They allege that a sudden tire failure is a controllable event and that properly trained drivers should be able to safely navigate the truck to a parked position.

However, the evidence does not lie. When a tire is defective, the tire manufacturer is the party at fault for the accident, and they cannot escape liability.

The tire in this crash, and all other accidents similar to this one, should be inspected by trained professionals to determine what caused it to fail. If defects were the cause, the injured motorist deserves justice and answers for the harm they have suffered.
