Karelys Sola Killed in a Semi-Truck Accident on State Highway 195 in Killeen, Texas

Killeen, TX – A woman died in an accident with a semi-truck on State Highway 195 Friday morning.

According to reports, Karelys Sola was traveling northbound in a black Nissan when her vehicle collided with the back left portion of a stationary semi-truck. The semi-truck was reportedly preparing to execute a left turn at a yield sign and was obstructing the northbound and inside lane with its trailer.

No further details have been released.

Thoughts on collisions with semi-trucks

Blocking lanes of traffic while making a left turn is a dangerous and unacceptable practice that puts motorists at risk. Truckers should not take a left turn if they cannot do so safely.

Unfortunately, time and time again, truckers execute left turns, expecting oncoming motorists to see their trailer/truck. However, as seen in this case, the truck and trailer often go unnoticed, and extreme crashes occur.

We are currently handling a case involving a young man traveling on a two-lane highway when he ran into the side of a trailer blocking his traffic lane. The trucker was turning left and figured oncoming traffic would see the trailer blocking the lane. The trucker, trucking company, and the investigating officer all blamed the young man.

During our investigation, we found that the trucker was talking on the phone and drinking a soda while his trailer blocked the lanes of traffic. We found that the truck’s trailer had mud caked over the reflective strips designed to alert oncoming motorists of the truck’s presence in hours of darkness. We found no evidence the young man was distracted by a cell phone or anything else. In short, we found that the trucker was responsible for the young man’s death, and we are doing everything to obtain the justice and answers our client deserves.

This case presents similar issues that must be investigated. If wrongdoing on the part of the trucking company contributed to this crash, the young lady’s family deserves answers and justice for the suffering they must endure from her passing.
