Travis County, TX – One person died after their tire blew out in the 10300 block of SH 130 in Travis County.

The tire needs to be investigated to determine if it is defective

Many people think tire blowouts are due to poor maintenance or just plain bad luck. However, this isn’t always the case. Sometimes, tires fail because they are defective and never good in the first place. Driving unknowingly with defective tires is a catastrophic accident waiting to happen— these tires should never make it to our roadways.

When we see a tire failure accident that results in a complete loss of control, we are always concerned the tire may have been defective. This is because a sudden tire failure due to a defect is catastrophic and causes the vehicle to lose control. A standard blowout generally does not destroy the tire, allowing the driver to navigate the vehicle safely.

Manufacturers have a duty to produce safe tires free of defects. When they fail to do this, and someone is seriously injured or dies due to a tire blowout, the injured and surviving families deserve answers for the loss of their loved one. At the end of the day, manufacturers have the technology to prevent defective tires from making it on our roadways, and when they fail to do so, they need to be held responsible.
