Thoughts on tire blowouts

Some may see this crash and think it’s just bad luck, or maybe the tire wasn’t properly taken care of. But that’s not always the case. Sometimes, tires blow out because they have a defect. Tire blows out due to defects have nothing to do with chance or maintenance and everything to do with its manufacturer.

Tire manufacturers have a responsibility to produce tires that are safe enough to be on our roadways. When manufacturers don’t prioritize careful production and place profits over safety, tires can be defective and blow out prematurely, causing innocent people to suffer.

These are not isolated incidents; we’ve dealt with many similar cases over the years. One of the ways to prevent defective tires from entering our roadways is to raise awareness of the issue and hold manufacturers responsible when they cause an innocent loss of life.

More information is needed, and the tire needs to be inspected before it can be determined whether the tire in this crash was defective. However, the surviving family deserves answers and justice if it turns out that this crash was caused by a defective tire.
