WACO, TX – A McLennan County jury has delivered a record-setting $8.4 million verdict against Hankook Tire & Technology Co., Ltd. and Hankook Tire America Corp., reportedly the largest product liability verdict in McLennan County history.

At trial, Hankook attempted to escape liability by blaming a local tire repair shop that had previously patched the tire. Ammons’ trial team presented compelling evidence that the Hankook AH24 tire was defectively designed and manufactured at Hankook’s Daejun plant in South Korea. Key evidence showed the tire had a dangerously thin innerliner and multiple areas of defective rubber adhesion between internal components, making it prone to failure. After six hours of deliberation, the jury rejected Hankook’s defense and found the company 100% at fault for the tragic crash.
