Logging Truck Driver Injured After Steer Tire Blowout Causes Rollover Crash on US-60 in Newton County, Missouri

Newton County, Mo. — A rollover crash involving a logging truck prompted an emergency response near US-60 and Falcon Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities report that the incident occurred when a steering tire on the eastbound logging truck suddenly blew out, causing the vehicle to veer off the right side of the road and overturn.

The driver was transported to a nearby Joplin hospital for medical care.

The cause of the tire failure holds key information to determine if a manufacturer is responsible for this crash

Truckers drive long, strenuous stretches of miles to ensure the public receives the goods they need promptly. But driving a truck involves many dangers on the roadways. Faced with enough hazards on the road, truckers deserve safe tires.

When a steer tire fails, even the most experienced driver becomes powerless. The force of the blowout can pull an 80,000-pound truck in any direction, often with devastating results. We’re currently handling a case in Arizona where a sudden steer tire failure forced our client’s truck into the median, resulting in a rollover that left him with life-changing injuries.

These incidents demand a thorough investigation. While some might blame road hazards or maintenance, we often discover manufacturing defects are the real culprits. We recently represented a driver whose tire suffered a tread separation due to poor bonding during production—an apparent manufacturing defect that the company tried to dismiss as operator error.

For the driver in this crash and all truckers who put their trust in these tires, we need answers. Was this tire defective? Did it fail before its expected lifespan? Only a detailed inspection by qualified professionals can reveal the truth and ensure accountability if a defect caused this preventable crash.

May the driver make a swift recovery and receive answers to any questions they may have.
