Two People Hospitalized After Vehicle Rollover Crash on U.S. 395 in Pasco, Washington

Pasco, Wash.— Two individuals were hospitalized following a Thursday morning rollover crash in Pasco. The incident happened in the northbound lanes of U.S. 395 near Lewis Street.

According to authorities, the driver reportedly lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the roadway and overturn. Both the driver and a passenger were trapped inside the vehicle. Both occupants were subsequently transported to Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland to receive treatment for their injuries.

No further information has been provided.

Vehicle Safety Features Must Protect Vehicle Occupants

When a vehicle rolls over, the occupants’ survival often depends on more than just wearing seatbelts. The vehicle’s safety features must work together to protect those inside.

An adequately designed vehicle should shield its occupants during a rollover. This means seatbelts should keep people in place, airbags should deploy correctly, and the roof should maintain its structural integrity to prevent crushing injuries.

Unfortunately, some vehicles have design flaws that make rollovers more dangerous than necessary. Common defects include seatbelts that fail to restrain, airbags that don’t deploy when needed, and roofs prone to collapse upon impact. These defects can cause catastrophic injuries that wouldn’t occur in a properly manufactured vehicle.

To determine if defects contributed to the injuries in this crash, the vehicle itself must be carefully examined. An inspection can reveal whether the safety systems worked as intended. Did the roof withstand the impact? Did the restraints function properly? These questions can help uncover if a defect made the injuries worse than they should have been.

The injured here deserve to know what went wrong. May they get those answers and make a full recovery soon.
