Oregon Truck Driver Injured in Fiery Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-84 in Jerome County

JEROME, Idaho — Idaho State Police are investigating a crash that occurred at approximately 1:58 p.m. on Sunday on westbound I84 at milepost 170 in Jerome County.

A 64-year-old male from Dundee, Oregon, was traveling westbound in a 2016 Freightliner semi-truck pulling a trailer when his vehicle experienced a tire failure. The semi struck the median and pushed the concrete barriers into the eastbound right shoulder barriers before it hit two other vehicles, overturned, and came to a rest on its side. The semi then caught fire, blocking all westbound and eastbound lanes.

Multiple people were injured in the crash, with occupants from a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe transported via ground ambulance and the truck driver airlifted to a local hospital.
