Worker Hospitalized After Crash on Interstate 95 Involving Tractor-Trailer and Construction Vehicle

Newport, ME — A man was hospitalized after a collision involving a tractor-trailer and a construction vehicle on Interstate 95. The incident occurred when a paving crew set up safety cones along the highway.

According to State Police, a tractor-trailer collided with the construction vehicle in which the worker was a passenger, causing him to be ejected from the vehicle. The worker sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital in Bangor for treatment.

No further information has been released.

The injured deserves justice and compensation from the trucking company for the injuries and losses he has suffered.

A construction worker’s life changed instantly while trying to make our roads safer. The critical question isn’t just why the truck driver failed to stop – it’s whether this crash points to deeper safety issues.

The trucking company’s records will tell an important story. Their hiring practices, safety protocols, and driver history could reveal if proper precautions were ignored. Did the driver have previous violations? Were they properly trained for work zone safety? The truck’s data recorder will show speed and braking patterns. Dashcam footage can reveal if the driver was distracted or if something else caused the accident.

Sometimes, these crashes aren’t just about one careless moment. They can signal a company culture that prioritizes profits over safety. Some companies pressure drivers to meet unrealistic deadlines or ignore signs of driver fatigue. Others fail to enforce basic safety rules.

For this injured worker, understanding the entire picture matters. It’s not just about one driver’s mistake – it’s about holding everyone who contributed to this crash accountable, from the driver to any company leaders who may have created unsafe conditions.
