Fatal Crash on Highway 169 Claims Life of Robert Pitts

Tulsa, OK – A tragic accident on Highway 169 resulted in the death of a local resident on Thursday. Tulsa Police have identified the victim as 50-year-old Robert Pitts.

According to authorities, Pitts was traveling northbound on Highway 169 when his truck experienced a sudden tire blowout. The incident caused the vehicle to lose control, leading to a rollover crash. Upon impact, the truck’s fuel tank ruptured, igniting a fire.

Despite efforts to rescue him, Pitts was unable to escape the burning vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident caused significant disruption to traffic, as debris from the crash scattered across all lanes of the highway. As a result, the affected section of Highway 169 remained closed for several hours while emergency crews worked to clear the scene and conduct their initial investigation.

An inspection of the tire will determine if it failed because of a defect

The cause of the tire failure is important to ensure the family receives the answers and justice they deserve. It’s easy to assume this tire failed because of driver error or bad luck, but defective tires on commercial vehicles are alarmingly common on our roads. Manufacturers have a duty to produce safe, reliable tires, but they don’t always fulfill this responsibility.

We’ve seen countless cases where tires fail long before they should, putting the lives of innocent truckers at risk. In one instance, we represented a California man’s family after a front tire blowout caused his truck to plunge off a bridge in Arizona. Our investigation revealed clear manufacturing defects that led to the tire’s premature failure.

For the family affected here, finding answers is crucial. They deserve to know if a defective tire contributed to this tragedy. A thorough examination of the failed tire could uncover vital information. Were there signs of poor bonding, substandard materials, or structural weaknesses? These findings could explain what really happened.

Getting to the truth isn’t easy. Tire manufacturers often resist admitting flaws in their products. But with the right expertise and persistence, it’s possible to uncover the facts and hold companies accountable if needed.

We hope the Pitts family receives the support they need during this difficult time. If a defective tire played a role in Robert’s death, exposing the truth could lead to safer products and prevent future tragedies. While it won’t ease their pain, it could ensure that Robert’s passing leads to meaningful change and potentially saves other lives down the road.
