Mahmoud Abbad  Dies in a Fiery Crash on US 285 in Reeves County, Texas

Reeves County, TX –  A fiery crash with a semi-truck on Saturday morning on US 285 has left one person dead.

The incident involved a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by 56-year-old Mahmoud Abbad of Pecos, and a 2024 International truck.

Preliminary reports indicate that the International truck was traveling southbound when it veered off the road and then attempted to return. This caused the vehicle to spin and collide with Abbad’s northbound Equinox, which caught fire.

Abbad was pronounced dead at the scene.

Families of those wrongfully killed by other’s negligence deserve answers and justice

After the initial shock of a sudden fatal accident, the surviving family is often left with many questions: What went wrong? What is the next step to move forward? While nothing can bring their loved one back, they have the right to seek justice and accountability, and that starts with uncovering who all is responsible for this preventable crash.

In this case, it’s clear the International truck should not have collided with Mr. Abbad’s Equinox. However, what remains unclear is who else may be responsible for what happened.

For instance, what role did the trucking company play, and what information can they provide? Trucking companies possess vital details about the events leading up to a crash, such as the driver’s training records, logs of driving hours, and data from the truck itself. This data can reveal speed, braking patterns, and steering actions in the moments before the collision. If dashcam footage exists, it can offer visual evidence of what happened.

If a mechanical failure contributed to the crash, the manufacturer may also be held accountable for any defective parts.

Thoroughly investigating all factors leading to the collision is crucial to painting a complete picture of what went wrong and providing the surviving family with the answers they deserve. Legal tools are essential in uncovering these missing details, ultimately bringing the family much-needed closure.

We hope those affected can find peace and the justice they need to move forward.
