Jose Angel Urdiera Velediaz Killed in Crash with a U-Haul Truck in Northwest Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas, NV –  A motorcyclist has died following a crash involving a U-Haul truck in Las Vegas on Sunday evening. The incident happened at the intersection of North Rancho Drive and Ricky Road.

According to reports, a 2011 Ford Econoline U-Haul truck was traveling northbound on Rancho Drive when the driver attempted to make a U-turn at Ricky Road. At the same time, a 2007 Honda CBR 600RR motorcycle was traveling southbound on Rancho, approaching the intersection. As a result, the front of the motorcycle struck the right side of the U-Haul, causing the motorcyclist to be ejected from the bike.

Emergency medical personnel transported 23-year-old Jose Angel Urdiera Velediaz to UMC Trauma, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Thoughts on fatal accidents with large trucks

Losing a loved one in a truck accident is a heartbreaking and life-changing event. Along with the overwhelming emotional pain, families are often left with unanswered questions about how the accident occurred. While initial reports from authorities may provide some details, families may need professional support to uncover all the facts and determine the next steps for closure.

Truck drivers have a duty to operate their vehicles safely, and when that duty is breached, it’s crucial to understand what went wrong.

Professionals can help gather critical information about the moments leading to the crash. This can be essential because some details may not be immediately available or may have been overlooked, which could explain how the tragedy occurred. Information such as the driver’s training, how long they had been driving, dashcam footage, and data from the truck like speed, braking, and steering can help paint a clearer picture of what went wrong. Additionally, understanding the trucking company’s approach to safety can provide insight into whether proper safety measures were enforced.

Unfortunately, truck drivers or their companies may sometimes hesitate to share this information. They may want to avoid further responsibility. This is where legal tools, like depositions, can be essential in obtaining the necessary facts.

Uncovering the truth after a fatal accident not only provides the family with the answers they deserve but also helps protect future drivers from unsafe practices. Our hope is that the family in this situation receives the professional help they need to find closure and peace during this difficult time.
