One Person Airlifted Following Semi-Truck Crash on Interstate 70 in Effingham County, Illinois

Effingham County, Ill. – An accident on Interstate 70 on Monday evening injured one person. The incident involved two semi-trucks.

Preliminary reports revealed that a Peterbilt semi-truck traveling eastbound collided with the rear of a Freightliner semi-truck, which had slowed down due to stopped traffic. The Peterbilt failed to stop in time, striking the Freightliner’s trailer.

The passenger of the Peterbilt sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to a regional hospital.

The driver of the Peterbilt has been cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision and for following too closely.

Those injured in this crash deserve answers, accountability, and compensation for their suffering

Rear-end collisions can happen for many reasons, from driver mistakes to mechanical problems. The injured deserve a full investigation that goes beyond the initial police report.

We’ve seen this type of case many times. What seemed obvious at first wasn’t the whole story. In one case, we helped a family after a commercial truck rear-ended their car, causing a devastating loss. A deeper investigation showed the trucking company had neglected brake maintenance, choosing profits over safety.

Trucking companies often hold vital information that can explain what happened. They have access to driver logs, training records, and truck data, which can show speed, braking, and other important details leading up to the crash.

Unfortunately, companies don’t always share this information easily. They may try to reduce their responsibility or offer a quick settlement. This is why legal tools like depositions and vehicle inspections are essential for uncovering the truth.

Finding out all the facts and holding everyone responsible can help bring closure to the family and prevent similar tragedies in the future. We hope everyone affected finds the answers and support they need during this difficult time.
