A Semi-Truck Accident Leaves One in Critical Condition in the 2300 block of Douglass Road, Nacogdoches, Texas

Nacogdoches, TX – A two-vehicle crash on Tuesday night has left one person critically injured. The incident happened in the 2300 block of Douglass Road in Nacogdoches.

According to reports,  a black 2000 Freightliner, pulling a flatbed trailer, was traveling eastbound and attempted to make a U-turn. The semi-truck failed to yield the right of way to oncoming westbound traffic, leading to a collision with a 1999 Chevy pickup truck.

The driver of the pickup was taken to the hospital and is currently in critical condition. The driver of the semi-truck was not injured.

No additional details have been released.

Truck Drivers have a duty to adhere to traffic rules

It is unjust when a person follows all the safety rules on the road and another driver decides to ignore them, leading to a catastrophic collision. When this occurs, the driver at fault must be held accountable for the pain and suffering they have caused the injured party.

Being a good driver means following essential safety practices, such as yielding when required. This is especially important for truck drivers, who have a heightened responsibility to adhere to these rules, given the size and impact of their vehicles. However, there are times when truck drivers fail to yield.

There are several reasons why this might happen. Some truck drivers may not have the proper experience or training to safely handle a semi-truck, especially in situations requiring quick decisions. Others may ignore basic traffic laws, such as not speeding or avoiding distractions while driving. In some cases, truck drivers might mistakenly assume that other motorists will see them and stop.

We are currently handling a case in Kentucky where a driver backed his truck into a parking lot, blocking both lanes of traffic. The truck driver admitted he saw an oncoming vehicle with the right of way yet assumed the driver would stop and wait. This assumption resulted in the death of the man, leaving a child without a father and parents without their son.

No one deserves to face pain and suffering and mounting medical debt because of someone else’s negligent actions. I hope the injured person in this incident fully recovers and finds the justice and compensation they deserve.
