Abdullahi Aden and Several Others Injured in a Four-Vehicle Accident Caused by a Semi-truck Tire Blowout on US Route 35 in Ross County, Ohio

Chillicothe, OH – Several people sustained injuries after a semi-truck’s tire blew out Wednesday afternoon on US Route 35 in Jefferson Township, Ross County.

According to reports, Abdullahi Aden was traveling eastbound in a 2019 Kenworth 310 when a blowout occurred in the front driver-side tire. This caused the semi to veer off the left side of the road and into the westbound lanes, colliding with a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan and a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The semi eventually overturned and was struck by a 2019 Lincoln MKC.

Med Flight flew Aden to Grant Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger in the Dodge Grand Caravan was airlifted to Children’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. All other individuals involved in the crash were taken to Adena Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

When a truck’s tire suddenly blows out, it might seem like a random accident or bad luck. But in reality, many times, it means something else. If you think about it, properly maintained tires should not blow out, and if they do, they are probably defective.

Determining if the tire failed because it was not maintained properly or if it was defective is important to ensure those injured here at no fault of their own receive the accountability and justice they deserve. On one hand, if it turns out that the trucking company failed to replace the tire despite it being past its useful life or failed to inspect it to make sure it was in good working condition prior to travel, the company should be held responsible for what happened here.
