Jesus Garza Hurt After Being Pinned Beneath a 10,000-Pound Beam at a Construction Site Accident Near Sartell, Minnesota

Sartell, Minn. – A 32-year-old man was rescued after becoming pinned beneath a 10,000-pound steel beam at a construction site. The incident happened Friday morning at Waters Church near Sartell.

According to reports, Jesus Garza was trapped beneath a 74-foot-long structural beam. Garza, who was part of a contracted crew working on the church, was adjusting the cribbing as the beam was being lowered using jacks when it became unstable and fell, pinning his legs.

Garza was transported by Mayo Ambulance to St. Cloud Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Thoughts on workplace accidents

Suffering a serious injury at work can leave someone feeling hopeless and in pain, struggling to make sense of the life-changing injuries they now face. They may have lingering questions about what could have been done differently that day and what can be done now to make things right. It’s natural to feel this way, and the injured worker deserves answers. Authorities and professionals can help uncover the full story beyond what’s initially provided.

The reality is that most workplace accidents are preventable, and employers are aware of this. When an accident occurs, employers may hesitate to share all the details for fear of revealing safety failures.

For example, while safety practices are mandatory, many worksites don’t always follow protocols if they believe it will slow production. They may not want to admit these failures, but injured workers can get to the truth with the proper support. Legal tools like depositions and site inspections can help expose details that employers may try to sweep under the rug.

It’s crucial to investigate what safety measures were in place during the incident. Was the equipment adequately inspected before use? Was any of it defective? Was equipment stored correctly to prevent wear and tear? These are vital questions that demand answers.

Finding the truth after an accident not only provides injured workers with the answers they deserve but also helps prevent future risks. We hope the injured individual receives the professional support needed to uncover the facts and find closure during this challenging time.
