Personal Injury Law Firm Files Product Liability Lawsuit Against GM After Kentucky Rollover Accident

The Ammons Law Firm has filed a lawsuit against General Motors LLC and other defendants following a serious rollover crash involving a Chevrolet Trailblazer. The incident occurred on Kentucky Route 121 in Graves County, Kentucky, when the Trailblazer unexpectedly rolled over and caused life-changing injuries to its occupants.

The lawsuit claims that General Motors is responsible for designing and manufacturing a vehicle with significant safety defects. According to the legal filing, the Chevrolet Trailblazer lacked crucial safety features such as electronic stability control (ESC) and rollover-activated side curtain airbags (SCA). These omissions allegedly made the vehicle more prone to rollovers and less capable of protecting occupants during such events.

The Ammons Law Firm argues that General Motors failed to equip the Trailblazer with adequate accident prevention technology, despite the availability of relatively inexpensive solutions like ESC and roll stability control (RSC). These systems could have greatly reduced the vehicle’s tendency to roll over in foreseeable circumstances, such as road-edge recoveries.

Furthermore, the lawsuit alleges that the Trailblazer’s roof was not strong enough to withstand the vehicle’s weight during a rollover without significant deformation. This weakness, combined with alleged failures in the seat belt system and side window glazing, reportedly contributed to the severity of the occupants’ injuries.

The legal action seeks to hold General Motors accountable for what the plaintiffs claim is negligent design and manufacture of the Chevrolet Trailblazer. The lawsuit alleges that safer alternative designs were both economically and technologically feasible at the time the vehicle was produced, which could have prevented or minimized the injuries sustained in this crash.

In addition to the claims against General Motors, the lawsuit also addresses the actions of the driver involved in the incident. The complaint alleges that the driver failed to operate the vehicle in a reasonably safe manner, contributing to the cause of the accident.
