Semi-truck Driver Killed in Tire Blowout Accident on Interstate 95 in Fayetteville, North Carolina

Fayetteville, NC –  A commercial truck driver lost their life in a fiery crash on Interstate 95 Wednesday evening.

According to reports, the tractor-trailer was traveling in the right lane when the driver attempted to merge into the left lane. A blowout of the left front steer tire caused parts of the tire to strike the saddle tank, igniting a fire and resulting in an explosion. The truck then collided with the center divider, where it came to a stop and continued to burn.

Emergency crews arrived and attempted to extinguish the fire and rescue the driver trapped inside the vehicle.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

An inspection of the tire will determine what caused it to fail

Tire blowouts on commercial trucks are often more complex than they appear. While many assume driver error or bad luck, the truth is that defective tires are more common than expected. Manufacturers have a responsibility to produce safe, reliable tires, but this duty isn’t always fulfilled.

In our experience, tire defects causing blowouts are alarmingly common. We’ve seen countless cases where tires fail prematurely, putting drivers at risk through no fault of their own.  When a blowout occurs, it’s important to look beyond surface-level explanations. A thorough investigation of the tire can reveal manufacturing defects that caused the tire to fail.

Manufacturers must be held accountable for these defects. The safety of truck drivers and other motorists depends on it. Holding the manufacturer responsible provides justice to the affected families and pushes for higher safety standards in tire manufacturing.

For the family left behind after such a tragedy, finding answers is crucial. They deserve to know if proper manufacturing practices could have prevented their loved one’s death. Professional support in investigating these incidents can help uncover the truth and provide closure.
