Suny Rattu Killed in an Accident Involving Two Semi-Trucks on Interstate 80 in Seward County, Nebraska

Seward County, Neb. – A California man lost his life in a crash involving two semi-trucks on Interstate 80 near Seward. The incident happened Wednesday morning.

According to the Seward County Sheriff’s Office, an eastbound semi-truck collided with the rear of another eastbound semi.

The driver of the semi that rear-ended the other vehicle, identified as 34-year-old Suny Rattu, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other semi-truck was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

No additional details have been released.

Trucks cannot park on the side of the road when it is not safe

When a truck is involved in a collision, especially one parked on the roadside, it’s easy to jump to conclusions. However, the situation is often more complex than it appears.

Trucks parked on the shoulder of a highway create a dangerous situation for every passing motorist. This practice, which should never happen, puts countless lives at risk. Yet, it occurs far too often.

In cases like this, trucking companies often try to shift blame, arguing that other drivers should have avoided hitting their parked vehicles. But this argument ignores a crucial fact: you can’t create a dangerous situation for all passing motorists and then escape liability when someone gets hurt.

We’ve seen this scenario play out before. In one case, a young father tragically crashed into a semi-truck parked too close to active lanes. The trucking company blamed the victim, claiming a flat tire forced them to stop. Our investigation revealed a different story: the tire had been underinflated for a long time, and the company chose to repeatedly inflate it rather than replace it, prioritizing cost savings over safety.

In another case, a man died after hitting a semi-truck parked on the left shoulder of a busy highway. The truck driver’s reason for stopping? He needed to use the bathroom. A life was lost because of this reckless decision.

These cases show why thorough investigations are crucial. They reveal the true causes of accidents and hold those responsible accountable.

We hope the family receives the support and answers they deserve during this difficult time.
